Academic Achievement Rationale
The acceptance letter from Bridgewater University is an item in which I take great pride.  Bridgewater was my first choice for college and when this letter arrived, I was ecstatic.  I believe Bridgewater chose me because of my academic record.  I looked at the recommended guidelines to be accepted to Bridgewater and used that list as a motivational tool during my junior and senior years.  Since I want to become a Chemical Engineer, I chose Bridgewater’s admission as a goal because the University’s Engineering program is excellent.  Accomplishing this goal helps me realize that I can commit to a goal and follow through to the completion of it.
Personal Responsibility Rationale
The National Student Leadership Conference is held every summer at American University.  I was invited to attend this past summer.  The experience gave me inspiration to do more in my school and community.  I met students who, like me, wanted to make a difference in the world.  In order to be endorsed for this opportunity, a teacher had to recommend me based on my personal character.  Therefore, this conference shows that others perceive me as responsible.  When I eventually become a Chemical Engineer, I know that employers will be looking for people who show leadership and who model responsibility in the workplace.  The National Student Leadership Conference is an experience that solidified my choice to make responsible decisions that affect change in my community.

Career Readiness Rationale
The final grade slip from Novel shows my career readiness because I realized after ninth grade that I needed an extra math course in order to have the proper pre-requisites for my intended college major – Chemical Engineering.  When I spoke to my guidance counselor, I was given two choices.  I could either take Algebra II during the summer at Novel or take two math courses my sophomore year.  I chose to give up some of my time during the summer in order to make sure I was on the correct path toward achieving my career goal.

October 22, 2010  Dear Sir or Madam: It is with great pleasure that I write this letter in support of Susan Senior.  Susie is a very remarkable individual, whom I had the opportunity to teach during her junior year.  Over the course of that school year, I witnessed Susie’s growth as a writer and as a student.  However, what makes her truly unique is her leadership ability and dedication to her goals. Susie’s selfless attitude, as well as her outstanding personal character, is what makes her an outstanding candidate for a four year university. Susie’s excellence is not limited to the classroom alone; she has maintained leadership positions in after-school activities, most notably in the Engineering Club.  To balance such intense leadership demands with a rigorous course load, including Advanced Placement courses, is quite an accomplishment.  Her willingness to take on responsibility along with taking a demanding academic schedule clearly shows Susie’s drive.   Given the above qualities, I hope that it is clear why I believe that Susan Senior is an exceptional young woman.  She is a capable and confident person who will be an asset to any college campus.  If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at gtodd@xxxxx.com or 301 555-0000. Respectfully,  Gwendolyn M.
